Graphic abstracts
Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.
There is so much said about abstract art that, for the moment, we will leave it with the aforementioned. The graphic abstracts take a major place in the art work of Ruud.

Passion for paper and ink
The differences in paper are endless: the material composition, the surfaces, the clarity, the opacity and transparency. It will all affect the final outcome.
One can spend a lifetime in exploring. It began with a small bottle of the basic Indian shellac ink and smooth drawing paper. I got caught in it. Especially to find out how different inks work together (or not).
The ink on the paper seems to transform and sometimes even gives a leather appearance. Ink lives.
